Swamp Laws & Alligator Claws
This acrylic and watercolor on paper painting is inspired by Everglades National Park in Florida, which is home to many species.
In this piece, an alligator and stork are silhouetted in white against a swampy, vibrant landscape. The background is created first with watercolor and acrylic paint applied in an abstract manner, and then with a darker layer, the forms of the trees and water are carved into the abstract greens and blues to create a landscape. The white animals on the top layer represent the species that are threatened by human development. This is part of the “Edge of the Untamed” series.
